Rocky Mountain Church | Outreach

The Outreach Ministry Team at Rocky Mountain Church is an active group of followers of Christ, who believe that by reaching out to the lost, sharing the gospel, meeting physical needs, and having a visible presence in the community, we can move towards fulfilling the great commission. (Matthew 28:19, 20)

Events we organize include:

•  "Praise in the Park" Concert Series, 2013 dates: 7:00 PM, Friday, June 28, - Friday, July 26, and Friday, August 23
•  Participation in the annual Parade of Lights festivities
•  Serving free hot chocolate before the parade
•  Other opportunities to serve the community as they arise

Ministries we financially support and assist include:

•  The annual Christmas eve service
•  The Caring Pregnancy Center
•  Habitat for Humanity

Our desire:
To see believers, regardless of which church they attend, working together to be a light to our community.

The key:
Each event needs to be saturated with prayer for it to be effective, for we know that only God can change lives.

An invitation for you:
God is opening more and more opportunities to reach out into our community with Christian love and the Good News of Jesus. As our opportunities increase, we need more help and participation to make these events happen. Would you prayerfully consider how you might help? God may even want you to join the Outreach Team. If you are not sure how to get involved, you would be more than welcome to show up at one of our monthly meetings, where we would be happy answer to your questions and share the possibilities with you. Watch the bulletin for information on when and where the next meeting will be held. Email Outreach Team

MORE! Praise in the Park
As the sun set over the western mountains, a curious family stopped on the sidewalk to listen to Rocky's band singing praise music in Bond Park. Delaying dinner, they stayed until the last note died away, saying, “We came here looking for physical food, and God blessed us by giving us spiritual food.”

Taking worship out of the church building to a downtown park provides the opportunity to point passersby their Creator. Tourists stopped to listen and even join in. Christians from across the community gathered for fellowship and worship. The Outreach Team, along with anyone else who wanted to help, roamed through the crowd, passing out free popcorn and water, alert for those who might need to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. What a way to spend an evening! The God of the universe openly receiving glory!

Day after Thanksgiving Festivities
What helps warm festivity-goers roaming Elkhorn Avenue on a cold day? Hot chocolate, of course! Volunteers passed out hundreds of cups of hot chocolate with a smile and an invitation to the annual Christmas Eve service.

Beautiful white horses drew a lot of attention as they pulled an old-fashioned wagon decorated with Christmas garlands up and down Elkhorn Avenue. The wagon was filled with carolers singing to the crowds on the sidewalks. Heads turned. Some stopped to listen and wave. Parents leaned over their little children, pointing. In the evening, the carolers joined the Parade of Lights, singing of God's gift of salvation in Jesus as they moved slowly along the parade route. Many onlookers cheered as they read the sign on the side of the wagon, which read, "Jesus is the light of the world." At times the crowd even joined in the singing. In the midst of the town's festivities, the real Reason for Christmas was honored.

One Christian family from out of town asked if they could join the carolers. They arrived in Estes Park extremely discouraged by hard circumstances, but by the end of the day they could not stop expressing their gratitude. “When we saw you glorifying Jesus, we just wanted to join in. It was just what we needed. We are so encouraged.”
