“They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayer… praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.” Acts 2:42, 47
Our Mission:
Rocky Home Churches, a pillar at Rocky
Mountain Church, is an intimate home setting within our body of believers where
we gather to worship, read the word of God, care for one another, and serve the
community in the ways that God has called us. Simply put, it is a living
Biblical community. Acts 2:42-47, Matthew 22:37-39
Our Vision:
Rocky Home Churches offer a safe place to build Community, with our new life in
Jesus as the basis and foundation for all of our relationships. Our lives
together should offer evidence to the world of the transformational and redeeming
character of God, through Jesus, our Savior. John 17: 21-23
Details:
This is about more than simply joining a “small group.” We want to help
people get involved in deep relationships with God and one another throughout
the week, allowing God to influence the span of our lives. We usually meet weekly with our Home
Church, yet the relationships overflow into the rest of our week. Our
Gatherings meet in people's homes and are open to all people of Estes Park and
beyond. Each Home Church may have
a different study; they decide where to invest time, and how to love one another.
Our Leaders are in that position because they sense God’s call to facilitate a Home Church. They are either members of Rocky Mountain Church or have formally agreed to our Leadership Standards. Their role is primarily that of a “shepherd” – caring for those in their Gathering. The world today presents many different trials; we believe that growth often comes by walking through these with Christ and one another, not avoiding them.
The size of our gatherings is generally between 10-14 people – small enough to be intimate and large enough to have dynamic relationships together. Our Home Churches generally meet year-round. Sometimes, our Gatherings are for dinner, movies, hikes, camping or barbecues. We believe that God has called us to a consistent life of relationships in order to grow.
Call to Community:
We believe that our new life in Jesus is the only answer to this world. Through Gathering as followers of Jesus in family environments we better experience the modern version of the Acts 2 church. We want to walk the Journey of life together, asking God through the Holy Spirit to allow us to grow into a deeper love with Him and one another. The Great Commandment becomes great when it is lived out.
